Talk Like a Pirate Day

piratesAhoy me hearties! Arrgh….. Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day and on my birthday! How cool is that!

I didn’t believe it at first, either. I mean, really, talk like a pirate day?

A quick Google search and sure enough, there it was.

Apparently, it was started back in 1995 by two guys on a racquetball court. Who would have thought?

Here’s the link to their story on CNN: National Talk Like a Pirate Day

It’s no secret around my house that I absolutely LOVE the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. We have all three, can’t wait for the next one, and I think I’ve watched them a hundred times each. The ride at Walt Disney World is an absolute must.

My Shuffle Took a Bath

ipodshuffleYes, you read that right.

Last Friday night, we were outside watching the kids play in the yard. Doug walked out and said, “Look what I found” and opened his hand.

I guess I must have had a really puzzled look on my face as there was my shuffle, so I’m thinking, “Yea, that’s my shuffle and…???”

Doug: “I found it in the wash”
Me: “Like the washing machine?”
Doug: “Yes”
Me: “Oh, sh__t. Did it go through the dryer, too?”
Doug: “Yep”

How in the heck did that happen? The only thing I can think of is that morning, after my run, I guess I forgot to unclip it from my shirt and when I tossed the shirt in the laundry, the shuffle went with it.

Remembering 9/11 – The Day Everything Changed

91101I am sure there are going to be literally thousands upon thousands of blog posts today about 9/11.

It’s taken me a full day just to figure out how I want to approach this subject.

Eight years ago and I still remember every single thing that happened that day.

Yet, I can barely remember what I ate for lunch last Tuesday.

My grandparents had Pearl Harbor, my parents had the assassination of JFK, we have 9/11.

On 9/11/2001, Sean was a senior in high school, Matt a sophomore, Emily just 10 months old. On 9/11, I remember Doug calling me from his office to say that ‘they’ thought a plane flew into one of the Twin Towers.
