postheadericon Teaching Kids About Appreciation

Emily loves sending cards and I think it’s so important that we teach our kids about the value of sending thank you cards and showing true appreciation.

When Emily was in kindergarten, each month, they studied a different country around the world. At the end of the school year, the teacher and the class put on a mini worlds’ fair. It was so much fun. There were tables set up for each country with special clothes, foods, games and themes unique to that nation.

All the kids were encouraged to invite a friend, so Emily asked the little girl who lives in the house behind us. Even though they go to different schools, hey have been good friends since we all moved into this neighborhood.

The girls had a blast! Of course, I took my camera for lots of pictures. When we got home, I uploaded them into the greeting card service that I use, and we created this card to send to Sydney as a thank you from Emily.

It’s such a simple way to teach kids about how important it is to let people know how much we appreciate them and value their friendship.
