In 2010, I Wish I Would Have…

clockI know it’s nearing the end of 2009 and many of us are reflecting on this past year and making plans for 2010, but here’s something I really want you to think about.

If you haven’t started making your business plans for the coming year yet, what are you waiting for? The last 12 months flew by pretty quickly, didn’t it? Quicker than you expected? Doesn’t it seem like just ‘yesterday’ you were celebrating the start of summer and making 4th of July plans?

Here it is December and the last twelve months have come and gone… as will the next twelve.

After reading this, What I want you to do is close your eyes for a minute and pretend it’s this time next year. Pretend it’s December, 2010, and you’re reflecting on the past year.

What do you see? What do you wish you would have done in 2010 that you didn’t do, that you swore you were going to do?

Spend more time with family, perhaps? Or how about making just a few more phone calls every day. You promised yourself you were going to roll up your sleeves and make 2010 your year. You swore you were going to make 5 connections for your business every day. You promised yourself that 2010 was going to be ‘different’ from years past.

Well, how was it? How was 2010 for you?

We all head into the new year with great hopes and resolutions of making it happen ’someday.’

“Someday, I’m going to take that vacation.”
“Someday, I’m going to give more to church.”
“Someday, I’ll be able to make it to Susie’s soccer game.”
“Someday, I’m going to leave this job for something better.”
“Someday, I’m going to make my network marketing business be a success.”

Ladies and gentleman, there is no such thing as ’someday.’ I’ve never seen it on the calendar, have you? It’s not a day of the week, and it simply does not exist.” So, stop waiting for’someday’ to dig into your business. We have THE best profession in the world for creating real financial security, so make it happen NOW.

December, 2010 is going to come regardless. So, you can choose to build a farm on Facebook or choose to plant the seeds of your network marketing business. The choice is yours, but last time I checked, Facebook wasn’t paying its farmers.

Take this coming week to write out your network marketing goals and business plan for 2010. I like to work in 90 day increments because it’s simple, effective and manageable. At the end of the first 90 days, all I do is start over. 90 days works because it coincides with each calendar quarter and it’s simple to share with your downline.

Include things such as:

New connections you’re going to make each day.
Number of phone calls you’re going to make each day.
Number of product samples you’re going to give away.
Number of company presentations you’re going to do each week.

You get the idea. When you focus on the day to day income-producing activities, and stay consistent throughout the year, you’ll see results. Remember, this is a business of planting, sowing and reaping. The real farmer in the field doesn’t expect his crop to show up the next day after planting and neither should we.

So, what will you see when you look back on 2010?
