No TV Update

tv1No TV Update

Back in early March, I posted about how I turned off the tv by having AT&T turn off the television part of our U-Verse package.

I knew I wasn’t going to have a problem with it, since I don’t watch much t.v. anyway, but I did have concerns as to whether Doug or Emily would miss it and want it turned back on at some point.

I am happy to report that it’s now been 3 full months without tv and it’s been wonderful! We’ve been checking out movies from the library, or watching the ones we already own.

All 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies have been watched quite a bit. They are a lot of fun.

The weather here still isn’t that great, although at least it’s warm enough for outside play. Emily is an outside kid, so anytime she gets the chance to play outside, that’s where you’ll find her.

As for me, I am amazed at how much money we’re saving just by not having tv service. With even the basic package, the tv portion of AT&T Uverse was nearly $55 a month.. for television! I can remember when tv was free.

That’s $660 a year that we are not spending.

All in all, we couldn’t be happier about our decision.

We went with out anything for about 6 years, then our tv just kaput and we bought a new one which picked up basic channels in HD so we watched some of those…but we acquired a huge collection of DVD’s…we didn’t miss it either and you are so right about the savings!!
