Our Good Morning America Update
I apologize for taking so long to post this update. This week has been a bit crazy, to say the least. I chaperoned Emily’s 2nd grade field trip the other day and we had a blast! It was so much fun. Me and three 8 year olds in my car. They are so cute!
Our Good Morning America interview last week was really a lot of fun! The camera crew got here about 3:30 and were a crew sent up from Chicago.
When I got home, they had already been filming up and down our street. They had me and Emily take our dog, Copper, for a walk up and down the street, then they took footage of the outside of the house before it got dark.
By the time they set up their equipment in the living room, Doug got home and it was perfect timing! We did the interview part first. I have to admit, at first I was really nervous, but the camera crew were so amazing. They were super nice and really helped us to feel relaxed and comfortable. It was as if they could have been our neighbors!
I honestly have no idea how long the interview part took because I really wasn’t watching the clock. I’m guessing 20 minutes? The way it worked was the producer was on the phone in New York, on a Blackberry and she fielded questions to each of us. Doug said there was a monitor behind the sound guy and he could see each of us as the cameraman panned in and out.
Thank goodness I could not see that monitor! I would have totally freaked out!
During the actual interview, I really wasn’t too nervous, except for the last question she asked me and then I could feel my heart start pounding out of my chest. I thought to myself, “OMG, don’t screw this up!”
After the interview, we had about 5 minutes to break and then they took footage of us making dinner.. ha ha! That was a blast, so you’ll all get to see our kitchen, which I really didn’t think was anything too special until the cameraman started talking about how it was the perfect kitchen for a food show.
Hmmm.. I proceeded to tell him, “Well, if you know anybody on those food shows who need a kitchen, we’ll be more than happy to oblige!”
The weird part? They filmed us eating dinner. Yes, that was a little strange to say the least. I mean, who wants to spill beef stew in their lap with a camera crew from Good Morning America filming it?
After dinner, we had about 15 minutes to break and then it was into my office. Oh wow! They had me doing “work” at the computer for about 5 minutes or so. That was strange, too, because I wasn’t sure was I was really supposed to do, so I did what I normally do.
They also had Doug sit at the computer and filmed him, too, mostly at his LinkedIn profile and then had Emily come and stand next to her daddy. It was really sweet!
All in all, they were at our house for about 3 hours and we really had a great time. The segment was originally supposed to air this past week, but it has been re-scheduled for this coming week some time, although I don’t have a specific day yet.
As soon as I hear from the producer, I’ll be sure to post it.

I can’t wait!
Hey, if they “recreate” your kitchen, be sure to get a royalty.
LOL
